ZHF was founded by Wangui Nzai, a Kenyan with a lifelong passion for fashion, and Maximilian, a German photographer, building a world between Kenyan craftsmanship, photography and life experienced across different places.
Beyond the garments, destinations and people, everyday moments continue to inspire the world surrounding the brand.
Through The Real Maximalist, photography becomes part of that journey, documenting experiences, places and stories that naturally live alongside ZHF.
Together, fashion and photography shape a lifestyle where African roots meet global streets.
Gift of love
ZHF is a luxury travel and resort wear founded from the deep love we have for each other and the belief that love is the centre of everything and through Zawadi Hat Fashion, we are able to share that gift of love with the world, wrapped in timeless fashion.
Our first creation was our wedding attire, carrying the same depth and meaning found in everything we create. Inspired by East African fabrics, our designs celebrate connection, heritage, and bold expression.
We proudly work with local artisans from diverse east African backgrounds, each bringing their own story to life through skillful hands and thoughtful craftsmanship.
Crafted in Kenya
We handpick our fabrics and, alongside our production team in Mombasa, Kenya, we create each piece with intention, passion, and love.
Across every collection, we intentionally combine more than one fabric to create depth, contrast and an artistic touch. Giving our luxury travel and resort wear its distinctive character.
To preserve their uniqueness, every collection is produced in limited quantities, with only a small number of each design ever made.
